The Laser Group

Welcome to the real high power laser group, headed by Professor Colin Webb FRS (c.webb1@physics.ox.ac.uk), hence also known to afficianados as the Webb group. Occupying ten labs and offices on the first and second floor of the Clarendon lab the following people are currently trying to make the world a better place by building lasers:

Most of us work with copper vapour lasers, giving nice, bright beams with green and yellow colours. An old familiar face, Dr Simon Hooker (s.hooker1@physics.ox.ac.uk) has recently returned to start his own group developing X-ray lasers. And no, we can't make light-sabres. However, we do have a hitchhikers guide to lasers for those who left glorious physics at 'O'-level. If you're trying te repair your CD-player, diode lasers are also explained.
